| In celebration of the mid-autumn festival, the
Chinese Students and Scholars Association will be
hosting a gala night filled with cultural
performances of the different cultures that observe
this holiday.
The Mid-Autumn Festival, also known as the moon
festival, is a harvest festival that takes place
annually on the 15th of the 8th month of the
Chinese lunar calendar; it has been celebrated for
over 3,000 years mainly by Chinese, Taiwanese and
Vietnamese people. Traditional customs include
lighting lanterns, dragon dances, burning incense
and gathering with the family to consume
traditionally round pastries known as mooncakes. |
